Hydrotest pressure calculator.
Hydrostatic and pneumatic leak-test pressures for process piping using the ASME B31.3 method.
How it's calculated.
ASME B31.3 sets the minimum hydrostatic test pressure as 1.5 times design pressure, corrected for temperature by the stress ratio, which is capped at 6.5:
PT = 1.5 × P × (ST ÷ S) · Pneumatic: PT = 1.1 × P
The test pressure must not produce stress above yield at test temperature, and is held for at least 10 minutes before examination. Check flange ratings, valves and equipment in the test boundary.
