HSE appointments & resources planner.
Statutory appointments, first aiders, H&S reps, fire equipment, PPE and training for your workforce and activities under South African law.
How it's calculated.
The planner applies the numeric rules that South African law sets, and flags appointments and training triggered by the activities you select:
- First aid — General Safety Regulation 3: a first aid box where more than 5 employees work; where more than 10, one qualified first aider per 50 employees (per 100 in shops and offices), readily available on every shift.
- H&S representatives — OHS Act section 17: workplaces with more than 20 employees designate one representative per 50 employees (per 100 in shops and offices); section 19 requires a committee where two or more are designated.
- Fire extinguishers — SANS 10400-T: one per 100, 200 or 400 m² depending on the occupancy's fire risk; the local fire authority may require more.
- Construction — Construction Regulations 2014 appointments, fall protection plan, scaffold, excavation, temporary works, demolition and mobile plant roles.
- Lifting — Driven Machinery Regulations 2015; pressure — Pressure Equipment Regulations; noise — Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Regulations; chemicals — Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Agents.
Fire team, PPE and consumable quantities are planning allowances, not legal minimums. Size them to your risk assessment.
