Plate nesting & cutting calculator.
Nest rectangular parts onto stock plates with kerf and edge margins: plates required, yield, scrap and a cutting layout.
How it's calculated.
Parts are nested with a maximal-rectangles method: the largest parts are placed first, each in the free space that leaves the least waste, rotating them 90° where allowed. Every part is enlarged by the kerf, and the plate is reduced by the edge margin.
Yield = Σ part area ÷ (plates × plate area) · mass = L × W × t × ρ
Scrap mass includes kerf, margins and offcuts. Keep usable offcuts by sequencing the last plate and cutting it only as far as needed.
